NYU Global Field Intensives (GFI): Global Cities

The Global Field Intensives (GFI): Global Cities are a series of signature, faculty-led academic programs for undergraduate and graduate students offered by the NYU SPS Schack Institute of Real Estate. For its Aisa-focused intensive, Schack partners with the NYU Institute for Cities and Real Estate in Emerging Markets (ICREEM) at NYU Shanghai to deliver an unparalleled regional experience.

Held in conjunction with leading industry engagements, this specific program provides students with a rare opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the fast-evolving real estate markets of Asia. Through an immersive, one-week experience across Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Macau, participants engage directly with key market actors, landmark projects, and institutional environments shaping regional development.

Moving beyond the classroom, the program integrates curated site visits, executive briefings, and cultural exploration to examine how cross-border capital flows, urbanization, demographic transitions, and regional policy frameworks are influencing real estate investment, development, and strategy. Students will gain critical insights into sustainable development, urban regeneration, and the growing role of technology in transforming the built environment across both emerging and mature markets in Asia.
